The Daily Dump

Today is hump day, Wednesday, January 27th, 2021, the day reminded us that we still have two more days of the work week left, and for the New Orleans Saints, they may be waiting a bit longer for their answer from quarterback Drew Brees. Drew Brees has led an amazing career, breaking passing records and winning the Super Bowl over the Peyton Manning led Indianapolis Colts, he made an even bigger contribution to the city of New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Brees is now 42 years old and fresh off another playoff loss, this time to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and 43 year old Tom Brady, yet the loss was not and is not the problem here, the problem for the Saints towards the end of the season and in the playoffs was Drew Brees health. Brees can not throw the ball more than about 20 to 30 yards down field anyone after injuries to his throwing shoulder, which continues to be a problem over the past couple of years now, I mean look, the Saints had to sub in Taysom Hill and/or James Winston to take any deep shots in the playoffs, its just sad. You have to love Drew Brees, he isn't even 6 feet tall, never was known for having a rocket arm either, but this boy balled out everywhere he went college or pros, the man is just a winner. After watching the Saints and Brees loose to Brady and the Bucs it was far too clear the its time for Brees to hang up the cleats and walk away on his own terms, more or less, and allow the Saints to groom one of their 2 quarterbacks in house, or potentially make a couple moves and go out and get a top tier quarterback. Listen now, we all know the Tom Brady is not a normal human being like the rest of the human existence, but he is still human, and Brees is actually a year younger then Brady is too, but this game showed the Brees is broken physically and can not compete physically with someone playing the same position at the same age, it just over. This is no bashing of Drew Brees at all, Brees is on his way to Canton, Ohio to become a first ballad Hall of Famer easily, some of his passing records may never be touched by anyone for a long long time, the man brought joy back to an elite city that was massively destroyed by a hurricane that was neglected on its severity. Brees is a Hall of Fame quarterback and Hall of Fame man as well, if you search the old inter web you can find a clip of Brees telling Jamies Winston on the sidelines of the Bucs game last week, "It's your team now," and immediately had to fight his hardest to hold back his tears, he knows it's time. Thank you Drew Brees, well done.
